Why does a skirt bulge slightly when standing under a ceiling fan?
The fan makes air around the skirt move faster.
Faster-moving air has lower pressure (Bernoulli’s Principle).
Air inside the skirt has relatively higher pressure.
Pressure difference exists.
Higher pressure inside pushes the skirt outward.
The skirt bulges slightly.
Exam tip: When the question mentions “air moves faster” and “pressure changes,” it’s usually Bernoulli’s Principle. Don’t get confused—state clearly: higher speed → lower pressure.
AHA! Faster air, lower pressure. Not by sight, but by INSIGHT!
