SPM Physics:AHA! Oscillation Challenge- Reduce to Rise!

Want higher oscillation frequency? The trick is simple: reduce what slows the ball down. This comic shows the three exam‑ready moves:

  1. Reduce distance between plates → stronger electric field → faster attraction → higher frequency.

  2. Reduce mass of the ball → lighter, moves more easily → faster oscillation → higher frequency.

  3. Reduce string length → shorter path → quicker motion → higher frequency.

AHA! Reduce to rise — faster motion, higher marks. Not by sight, but by INSIGHT!

SPM Physics: AHA! SPM Trap- Name It, Don’t Point It!

In exams, precision matters. Many students circle the battery or write “the right one,” but SPM marking wants the scientific identity — not the location.

This comic shows the trap:

The lesson is clear: always state the labelled characteristic (voltage, value, unit) instead of vague positions. Just like in real life — if police ask who someone is, you don’t say “the guy on the right,” you give the name.

AHA! Don’t point — identify. Not by sight, but by INSIGHT!

SPM Physics:AHA! Haze Holiday: Aircon & Hope

Readers, Sarawak has been wrapped in haze this past week from Indonesian forest fires. Lucky coincidence — it’s the school holiday, so we’re stuck at home. But staying indoors all day isn’t exactly fun. I’m no different: with the air outside uncertain, I’ve been blasting the aircon and hiding inside. That’s how this comic came to life.

Physics sneaks into daily life: bigger rooms need more cooling power, inverter systems save energy, clean filters keep us safe. Still, I can already imagine the electricity bill climbing sky‑high. More than anything, I hope the fires are put out soon, and that wisdom prevails in handling this crisis. It’s been way too long since we last saw blue skies and fluffy clouds.

And hey, don’t mind if CIKGU LIM’s proportions look a bit off in the comic — that’s just the playful glitch of comic art. Zoom in and laugh: sometimes imperfections are part of the charm.

Morning in Simanggang, the haze was everywhere. The houses and the long road looked quiet and grey, almost hidden in the smoky air.

School holidays should be about fun outside, but now we just stay indoors. Physics says haze is full of tiny particles that block light. Life says haze blocks our plans too.

I really hope the fires stop soon, so we can see blue skies and white clouds again.

SPM Physics:AHA! EV Battery Choice: More Energy, Less Mass

On the assembly line, the car looks complete — but the empty space for the battery decides its future. Engineers debate: heavy battery or light battery, series or parallel, dry cell or wet cell? Many assume the heaviest battery stores the most energy, but physics says otherwise.

The comic teaches the Battery Insight Checklist:

  • Higher EMF (Voltage) → More electrical energy, greater motor output, faster acceleration.

  • Lower Battery Mass → Less inertia, lighter vehicle, quicker response.

  • Series Arrangement → Voltage adds up, higher total EMF.

  • Dry Cell → Practical, lower maintenance.

Lesson: Engineers weren’t looking for the biggest battery, but the most suitable one. More energy, less mass, better acceleration. AHA! Moment: Physics teaches: higher EMF and lower mass give better acceleration. Life teaches: suitability, not size, determines performance.

AHA! More energy, less mass. Suitability beats size. Not by sight, but by INSIGHT!

SPM Physics: AHA! Physics Court: One Word, One Mark

In this comic, the voltmeter is put on trial. The accusation? “It calculates voltage!” The investigation reveals the truth: a voltmeter does not calculate, determine, or give voltage. It simply measures the potential difference across a component. One precise word — measure — protects one precious mark in exams.

But beyond the courtroom humor, this comic reflects our age. In today’s AI‑driven world, words are everywhere: prompts, commands, shortcuts. Yet precision is rare. Machines can generate endless text, but they cannot care about the weight of a single word. Physics teaches us that accuracy in language earns marks; life teaches us that accuracy in meaning earns trust. AHA! Moment: Physics teaches: a voltmeter measures voltage, not calculates it. Life teaches: one precise word can protect one precious mark — and sometimes, one precise word can protect one precious relationship.

AHA! Voltmeter measures. Words matter. Not by sight, but by INSIGHT!

SPM Physics:AHA! Lightning Lesson: Energy Calculated, Danger Ignored

Students solved the SPM lightning question with ease:
E=QV
, 5 C × 20,000 V = 100,000 J. Correct answer, full marks. But while they calculated energy, they ignored the sky — and a real lightning bolt struck nearby. This comic reminds us that physics isn’t just about formulas; it’s about awareness. Knowing the numbers is important, but recognizing danger is essential. AHA! Moment :You can calculate the energy of lightning, but if you don’t look up, you miss the real lesson: physics is everywhere, and safety matters as much as accuracy.

In the age of AI, everyone is prompting, but few are awakening. Apps can calculate lightning energy, but they cannot awaken your instinct to look up when the sky cracks open.

AHA! Correct answers don’t protect you. Awareness does. Not by sight, but by INSIGHT!

SPM Physics: AHA! Electricity Moment — Why Birds Survive High-Voltage Wires

A bird standing on a high-voltage wire looks fragile, yet it survives. Why? Physics explains: current only flows when there is a potential difference across the body. Both feet touch the same conductor, so the potential difference is nearly zero, and no current flows.

But humans are not birds. In reality, our body span is much larger, so even a small distance can mean a dangerous voltage gradient. High voltage can also ionize air, causing electricity to jump as an arc. Muscle contraction from even small currents can make us lose control and touch another conductor.

This comic teaches students that survival is not about “Did you touch electricity?” but “Is there a voltage difference across your body?” Physics protects those who respect it.

N years ago, my camera caught a “physics flex” moment: a bird chilling on a high-voltage wire like it owned the place. Looks risky, right? But nope — physics says the bird is safe because both feet are on the same conductor. No voltage difference, no current, no fried feathers.

👉 By the way, do you know what species this bird is, and what name it goes by?

SPM Physics: AHA! Light & Shadow Moment — Earth Hour Reflections at Miri City Hall

One hour out of 8,760 sounds tiny, right? The energy saved is small, and some people even joke that the posters and promos use up more resources than the lights we switch off. But Earth Hour isn’t about numbers — it’s about vibes. It’s a symbolic pause, a reminder that our choices matter, that light and shadow need balance, and that sustainability starts with awareness.

When millions of people switch off together, it’s more than saving electricity. It’s like a collective heartbeat, a spark of empathy for the planet. The real lesson isn’t about that one hour — it’s about the other 8,759 hours we live every year.

AHA! Moment: Earth Hour isn’t about saving one hour of energy. It’s about reminding us to live wisely in all the hours that follow.

One hour off, 8,759 hours on. Not by sight, but by INSIGHT!

SPM Physics-AHA! Six Years for One Law: Ohm’s Legacy

Many students complain: “Why memorize so many formulas in physics?” But every formula has a story. Back in Germany, 1825, Georg Simon Ohm spent six years testing wires, metals, and currents. His perseverance revealed the link between voltage, current, and resistance — now known as Ohm’s Law (V=IR).

For modern students, Ohm’s journey is more than science. It’s proof that knowledge is discovered, not memorized. His method was persistence: test, fail, record, try again. That spirit inspires us today — physics isn’t just about marks, but about patience, curiosity, and resilience.

Life Reflection: Six long years. How many “six years” do we truly have in life? Ohm endured solitude, poverty, and doubt, yet never gave up. His legacy shows us that profound knowledge isn’t luck — it’s forged through patience, perseverance, and an unbroken heart.

AHA! Moment: Formulas are born from human struggle, and every equation carries a lesson in perseverance.

Six years of struggle = one law of insight. Not by sight, but by INSIGHT!
