Mechanical Stopwatch (60 s): Reading Technique, Common Mistakes & SPM Physics Tips

 






A mechanical stopwatch is used to measure time intervals accurately during Physics experiments. 

👀 Cara Membaca | Reading Technique

✅ Mulakan jam randik pada masa yang sama eksperimen bermula.

Start the stopwatch exactly when the experiment begins.

✅ Hentikan jam randik sebaik sahaja peristiwa yang diukur tamat.

Stop the stopwatch immediately when the event ends.

✅ Ambil beberapa bacaan dan kira purata untuk mengurangkan ralat rawak.

Take several readings and calculate the average to reduce random errors.

✅ Baca skala dengan teliti mengikut unit yang ditunjukkan.

Read the scale carefully according to the displayed unit.


❌ Common Mistakes

❌ Lewat memulakan atau menghentikan jam randik kerana reaction time.

Starting or stopping the stopwatch late due to reaction time.

❌ Mengambil hanya satu bacaan.

Taking only one reading.

❌ Membaca skala minit dan saat secara salah.

Misreading the minute and second scales.

❌ Tidak menetapkan semula (reset) sebelum eksperimen seterusnya.

Forgetting to reset the stopwatch before the next measurement.

⚠️ Elakkan menjatuhkan jam randik kerana mekanisme dalaman boleh rosak.

⚠️ Avoid dropping the stopwatch as the internal mechanism may be damaged.

⚠️ Tekan butang dengan lembut dan jangan memaksanya.

⚠️ Press the buttons gently and do not force them.

⚠️ Simpan di tempat yang kering selepas digunakan.

⚠️ Store in a dry place after use.

📌 Ralat yang paling biasa ialah human reaction time.

📌 The most common error is human reaction time.

📌 Untuk eksperimen ayunan bandul, ukur masa bagi 10 atau 20 ayunan dan bahagikan untuk mendapatkan tempoh satu ayunan.

📌 For pendulum experiments, measure the time for 10 or 20 oscillations and divide to obtain the period of one oscillation.

📌 Mengambil purata beberapa bacaan meningkatkan ketepatan keputusan.

📌 Taking the average of several readings improves accuracy.
