SPM Physics: AHA! Photoelectric Effect – Find W First!

In photoelectric effect problems, the work function (W) is often hidden. The exam is not testing whether you can memorize formulas, but whether you can spot W before applying the threshold wavelength equation.

Step 1: Find the Work Function

hf=W+Ek

Given:
hf=2.00 eV
,
Ek=0.10 eV

W=2.00−0.10=1.90 eV

Convert to SI:

W=(1.90)(1.60×10−19)=3.04×10−19 J

Step 2: Find the Threshold Wavelength

λ0=hcW
λ0=(6.63×10−34)(3.00×108)3.04×10−19=6.54×10−7 m
λ0=654 nm

Answer: 654 nm (Option C)

Exam trap: Don’t use photon energy directly in
λ0=hc/W
. Always calculate W first.

AHA! W is hidden, insight reveals it. Not by sight, but by INSIGHT!

SPM Physics:AHA! Quantum Challenge- Wave or Particle?

The double‑slit experiment isn’t just physics history — it’s the doorway to quantum wonder. This comic shows how a single quantum object can behave differently depending on observation:

  • Wave behaviour: Interference pattern appears when no one checks which slit it passes.

  • Particle behaviour: Localized impacts appear when the setup detects its path.

  • SPM exam clue: Same object, different observations → wave‑particle duality.

AHA! Same object, two faces. Not by sight, but by INSIGHT!

SPM Physics:AHA! Solar Street Light: Brightness Upgrade

A dim solar street light isn’t just a problem of size — it’s a problem of physics. This comic shows three hidden upgrades:

  1. Light-sensitive cathode material (Cesium/Lithium) → lower work function → more photoelectrons → more current.

  2. Bigger battery capacity → stores more charge → brighter lamp at night.

  3. Larger solar panel → absorbs more sunlight → generates more energy.

AHA! Bigger isn’t enough — reason makes it bright. Not by sight, but by INSIGHT!
