SPM Physics:AHA! Transistor Challenge- Who Really Controls the Bulb?

At first glance, students think the battery directly controls the bulb. But the real control lies in the transistor and resistors. This comic shows the hidden chain:

  • RX & RY: Form a potential divider, set the base voltage VB.

  • R1: Limits base current IB, protects the transistor.

  • Transistor (NPN): Acts as a switch, controlling current flow to the bulb.

  • Bulb brightness: Determined by transistor action, not just the battery.

AHA! Not the battery, but the transistor decides. Not by sight, but by INSIGHT!
