Growing up in KL city, I never saw a scarecrow. Only after graduating and being posted to Sarawak did I witness them in real life. Here, scarecrows are closely tied to the indigenous community — a must for farming.
At a cultural exhibition, I saw scarecrows on display and was inspired to create this comic. Physics explains:
Air is invisible, but wind makes its effect visible.
Moving air exerts a force on straw fibres and grass.
The bending and dancing of straw show that a force is acting.
Exam tip: don’t write “the straw moves by itself.” The scoring clue is moving air exerts a force.
