SPM Physics: AHA! Refraction Needs an Angle

 

Same glass, different result! Why?

• When the angle of incidence i=0∘, the ray passes straight through — no refraction.

• When i>0∘, the ray bends towards the normal — refraction occurs.

Exam tip: Refraction only happens when light enters another medium at an angle to the normal. Don’t just memorize “light bends.” Write the scoring clue: i > 0° → refraction visible.

This comic shows students that physics is about conditions. Same material, same setup, but different angle gives different outcome.
