SPM Physics:AHA! Moon Gravity: Weight Drops, Mass Stays Strong

 


“On the Moon, astronauts weigh much less!” That’s true — but physics loves surprises. Gravity is weaker, so weight drops from 700 N to 117 N. Formula reminder:

W=mg

Smaller g → smaller weight.

But here’s the twist: mass doesn’t change. An astronaut still has 70 kg of mass, and inertia depends on mass. That’s why pushing a rock on the Moon is just as tough as on Earth. Different weight, same mass, same inertia.

Life works the same way. Sometimes challenges feel lighter, sometimes heavier — but your inner “mass” (your character and effort) stays the same. And it’s inertia that keeps you moving forward, no matter the gravity.
